Itinerary
DAY 01: MALDONADO PORT
Reception at the airport. Transfer to the port to board the boats and begin navigation along the Tambopata River to the lodge. During this journey you will observe the changes in vegetation from colonized and deforested areas to the virgin jungle, along the way you will enjoy a snack. Upon arrival you will receive a welcome drink: in the afternoon you will have an introductory walk in the forest behind the lodge, dominated by the giant chestnut trees and the Chihuahuaco trees. The animals that are most frequently seen on this trail are the Pichico Monkey or Leoncillo, Brown Capuchin or Martin Monkey, as well as Agutis, Pacas, Blue Butterflies - Morpho, Toucans and many other species of birds. After dinner there will be a night walk, where you can find the only species of nocturnal monkey in the world and learn about the insects of the Amazon, while listening to the sounds of the forest. Return to the lodge and spend the night.
DAY 02: EL GATO MACAW CLICK
After breakfast, you will board the boat to go upriver, after a tour you will reach a path where you will begin a one-hour walk. On this tour you will observe trees such as Matapalo, Capirona, Palo Santo, Palm Trees and Bamboo. At the El Gato clay lick, we will wait for the arrival of groups of scarlet macaws, red and green macaws, which gather to feed on the clay deposits. After watching the birds, we will return to the river through another forest path, and then board our boat. Return to the hostel. Lunch. Free afternoon. Dinner. At night they will look for caimans and other nocturnal animals in the Tambopata River. Overnight.
DAY 03: HIKE TO SACHAVACAYOC LAKE (SACHAVACAS LAKE)
Breakfast. Today you will visit Lake Sachavacayoc and its wetlands around the lake. Depart by boat upriver, until you reach the trail where you will begin a walk along a long and fascinating forest path, which will lead you to a hidden and spectacular lake that is reached by crossing streams and swampy areas, in the middle of giant Lupuna trees ( mother of the jungle), Capirona, Matapalo, Palo Santo, Palm Trees and Bamboo. Once in Lake Sachavacayoc, it is possible to find the Black Caiman, otters or river wolves, macaws, Green Anaconda, among others. In the forest it is possible to see the Brown Capuchin Monkey, and the Squirrel Monkey or Saimiri. They will return for lunch. Free afternoon. Dinner. Overnight.
DAY 04: PUERTO MALDONADO – OUT
Early morning departure to Puerto Maldonado, along the way you will have the opportunity to observe the sunrise over the river. In the early mornings you frequently hear howler monkeys or preserve monkeys. Arrival in Puerto Maldonado and transfer to the airport.
